Known Issues

There are a number of important caveats to the data presented here:

  1. Approximately half of all Google Code Search results have an 'Unknown' license. The percentages displayed here are of the known results only.
  2. At least one important license (the Eclipse Public License) cannnot be searched for on Google Code Search at this time.
  3. Although we list the Artistic License as allowed on Google Project Hosting, only Artistic/GPL dual licensing is actually permitted.

What this site does

This website retreives result counts from Google Code Search for each of the listed licenses. On each page view, the site picks the license with the oldest data and checks to see if it is over a day old. If so, a new search is performed, the data is stored, and the percentage recalculated.
